The project is located in Reichenau in Tamis, in the canton of Graubünden, and is a part of the new double-track Reichenau-Tamins-Farsh. The main component of the tender is the construction of a second railway bridge. Essentially, the project responds to the “classical” situation of a three-branched bridge interpreted in a contemporary way. To make a musical metaphor, the new bridge receives the function of a bass line, in which the melody of the existing bridge is released.
A subtle play of transparencies between the old and the new highlights the viewer’s spatial perception and reveals the beauty and qualities of the surrounding landscape. The opening on the pillars generates a clear view, creating a window that frames the lattice of the existing bridge.
